13:5 When
1 they arrived
2 in Salamis,
3 they began to proclaim
4 the word of God in the Jewish synagogues.
5 (Now they also had John
6 as their assistant.)

13:50 But the Jews incited
8 the God-fearing women of high social standing and the prominent men of the city, stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and threw them out
9 of their region.

14:2 But the Jews who refused to believe
10 stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds
11 against the brothers.
14:3 So they stayed there
12 for a considerable time, speaking out courageously for the Lord, who testified
13 to the message
14 of his grace, granting miraculous signs
15 and wonders to be performed through their hands.
14:4 But the population
16 of the city was divided; some
17 sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles.
14:5 When both the Gentiles and the Jews (together with their rulers) made
18 an attempt to mistreat
19 them and stone them,

17:5 But the Jews became jealous,
21 and gathering together some worthless men from the rabble in the marketplace,
22 they formed a mob
23 and set the city in an uproar.
24 They attacked Jason’s house,
25 trying to find Paul and Silas
26 to bring them out to the assembly.

17:6 When they did not find them, they dragged
28 Jason and some of the brothers before the city officials,
29 screaming, “These people who have stirred up trouble
30 throughout the world
31 have come here too,
17:7 and
32 Jason has welcomed them as guests! They
33 are all acting against Caesar’s
34 decrees, saying there is another king named
35 Jesus!”

17:8 They caused confusion among
37 the crowd and the city officials
38 who heard these things.
17:9 After
39 the city officials
40 had received bail
41 from Jason and the others, they released them.

13:18 For
42 a period of about forty years he put up with
43 them in the wilderness.
